Larrivee RS-2

Larrivee RS-2 in gloss red, from about 2009, made in Oxnard California USA.

One piece mahogany body with one piece mahogany set neck. 25 1/2" scale length with bound rosewood fingerboard. Kluson tuners. Controls are separate volume and tone for each pickup.

Bought this one used a couple of months ago and had the pickups replaced with noise free / hum cancelling Manlius Quiet Goats ( ! ).

This is one of the first run RS-2's with a separate bridge and tailpiece, they went to a non gloss satin finish with a single piece wraparound bridge and added a pickguard for the second run. At the moment there is a third version of the RS-2 starting to come out with a single master volume and tone control and a three way blade selector switch, i.e. a Telecaster layout.

It sounds very like a Tele, don't know if that's the pickups or the scale length or a combination of both. The Heritage 137 with Fralin noise free P-90s sounds fatter and fuller than the Larrivee. The Heritage is 24 3/4" "Gibson" scale while the Larrivee uses the "Fender" scale length. Two guitars with the same construction but totally different tone.

Larrivée are very good guitars, but I don't like the shape of this one...

Thanks guys. Larrivee are definitely top notch quality, the shape is different but as a lefty I really like that it's not the usual Strat, Tele or Les Paul shape.

This is my second RS, the RS-4 has lots more bling with the same body shape ....

Ah c'est curieux dans cette finition je n'aimes pas du tout. Je penses que le bling bling ne colle pas toujours avec une style "studio".
