Fender Strat 1978

This was my first Strat, I bought it from a local player in 1984 and I've had it ever since.

It has Reflex Reds active pickups installed, with a mid boost /cut on the middle pot.

You're the only guitar player I now that still have reflex reds on his guitar ! How does it sound ? They were serious rivals of EMG at the time, and they have the reputation of having a less flat response... I think they were monted on french guitars LAG in the 80's

Nice one, nevertheless ! :ok:

They sound the opposite of EMGs. I find EMGs lack extreme low and highs. The Reds have plenty of lows and highs. They can be very thin. That's why I got the mid boost installed, in centre position it does nothing, turning it up a bit increases the mids and the output, decreasing the pot makes it sound like a Tele. Turning the mid all the way up really boosts the volume and sounds very fat.

Yes, I probably could dig the garden with it !

It's a heavy strat, like lot's of other '70s ones. I bought a couple of new American Standard Strats in the late '80s and both felt like toys compared to this one, they were too light, I didn't keep those too long. I probably should have they were among the first American Standards :pleur:
